Maritime's UFBC is comprised of a steel barge float with an I-beam superstructure welded to the base of the barge below the waterline. Vertically positioned molded rubber arch fenders on the ship side absorb the energy from berthing submarines, while horizontally positioned arch fenders on the pier side widely distribute berthing loads to the pier. Extruded fenders surround the perimeter of the barge to protect against damage while moored. The barge deck, encompassed by removable safety lines, creates a large working platform for personnel and equipment. The barge camel has an anti-fouling marine coating system, all 316 stainless steel connection hardware and replaceable zinc anodes to increase the time between required overhauls and decrease lifecycle maintenance costs
